Benthic Ecology Lab Part-Time Student Worker

The Benthic Ecology Lab at the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) is seeking a part-time student worker to participate in a study to determine the effects of fungal pathogens on mangrove ecosystems (https://mangrovedetectives.org/) and to be involved in additional ongoing field and laboratory studies of coastal benthic ecology. The student worker will assist with a variety of tasks including the preparation and dissemination of educational material, data entry, and field and laboratory tasks associated with bioacoustics and sponge ecology. This position will be based at LUMCON.
The candidate must be a current undergraduate student interested in ecology, plant pathology, bioacoustics, benthic ecology, or a related field. Familiarity with DNA extractions and PCR is desired. The ability to work in a group setting is essential, as the student worker will work collaboratively with project leads across multiple institutions.
Duration and Start Date:
This position is available immediately and will run through March 2021 with possible additional support depending upon funding and satisfactory performance.
The position will be based at the DeFelice Marine Center in Cocodrie, LA.
