LUMCON is once again opening its doors to the community during this FREE one-day event at the Marine Center in Cocodrie. Join LUMCON scientists and educators in a fun-filled day dedicated to showing you what LUMCON’s all about! Learn more about Louisiana’s amazing coastal marine laboratory, research vessels, marine science, and how you can become part of it all with LUMCON – the heart of Louisiana marine science.

Event Highlights:
- Research lab tours with our science staff
- Hands-on activities and workshops
- Story times and children’s play performed by LUMCON staff and students
- A scavenger hunt for kids ages 3-15
- Dockside tours of our research vessels
- A live marine invertebrate touch tank
- Free lunch of hot dogs, chips, and cookies (served from 11 AM- 1 PM while supplies last)
- Science talks/presentations by LUMCON faculty and students
Event Notes:
- A reminder that Hwy 56 is closed at Robinson Canal. Use the Hwy 57 Route from Houma. Click here for driving instructions.
- Shuttle Service: Good Earth Transit and the Terrebonne Council On Aging are providing shuttle service from the Maritime Campus (335 Dickson Road) to the Marine Center. Visit our website for details.
- To reduce plastic, please be sure to bring your water bottles. There will be places to fill them.
Shuttle Service
Need a ride down the bayou? Good Earth Transit and the Terrebonne Council On Aging are providing shuttle service from the Maritime Campus (335 Dickson Road) to the Marine Center and back.
Seating is limited. Shuttle seats are first come – first served.
People wanting shuttle service can park at our Blue Works facility on the Houma Maritime Campus at 335 Dickson Road in Houma. The last shuttle leaving with passengers to the Marine Center leaves at 12 PM. The last shuttle leaving the Marine Center leaves at 3:30 PM.
