In the summer, the Marine Center becomes a robust and diverse community of people participating in various programs focused on research activities that help us better understand our changing landscape.

Caribbean Marine Ecology 
Program Dates: May 20-31, 2025:
Course Credit: 3 CREDITS awarded through the University of Louisiana – Lafayette
Course Description: This is an intensive 10‐day long, field‐oriented course focused on understanding the ecosystem services provided by terrestrial and aquatic environments endemic to the Caribbean region. Specifically, students will explore the cultural, health, economic, and ecological importance of Bahamian ecosystems, and learn about the role that humans play in influencing these environments. Students will explore course content through daily field activities, lab analyses, guest lectures, tours, and self‐reflection. REU Program Details
Program Dates: June 2 to August 8, 2025
Benefits: $6,000 stipend, travel stipends, housing and meals provided, and professional development workshops.

STEP PREP Program Details
Program Dates: May 26 to July 3, 2025

Application Deadline: March 15, 2025
Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled and returning to a 2 or 4-year Louisiana college or university. This program is designed to provide access to STEM work experience and transferable skill training to students who have limited access on campus.
